Changes Through the New Millennium

external image HappyNewYear.jpgAmerica entered into the new millennium with a bang. The excitment for what the new age could bring was monumentous and changes were occuring all over the world. President Bush takes Iowa caucuses in the U.S. presidentail race, Reformists won control of the Iranian parliment in february, also in february Hillary Clinton enter the N.Y. senate race, in July the ipod a popular music listening device was created. The United States seemed to be moving along fairly well into 2001, that is until external image senator-hillary-clinton-2.jpgSept. 11, 2001 when everything seemed to come to a screeching halt for millions American citizens. Four comercial American Airlines planes were hijacked by terrorists and crashed. Flight 11 crashed into the North tower of the world trade center shortly before 9 a.m., 15 minutes later Flight 175 hit the south tower. A half hour later Flight 77 crashed into the pentagon an less than an hour later Flight 93 went down near shanksville P.A. The Federal Emergency Reaction Plan was activated immediatlyafter the first crash. When it was all over approximatly 3,497 people were dead. Under President Bush the U.S. took action against the terrorists and continued on through the changes and challenges of 2001 and the years to come.
